Here's a summary of responsibilities:
As a Senior Psychological Services Provider and Researcher, this individual is responsible for delivering comprehensive psychological services to Team USA athletes and National Governing Bodies (NGBs), including psychotherapy and mental performance consulting, psychological assessment, and case management. The provider will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver individualized care, offer remote and in-person services as needed, and develop educational materials for athletes, coaches, and staff. They will also contribute to policy development, ensure compliance with medical and legal standards, and provide on-site psychological support at major national and international competitions, including the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
 
As Senior Psychological Services Provider and Researcher, this individual will lead the design and execution of clinical research focused on mental health, mental performance, and/or the intersection of psychology and sports medicine. This includes study design, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of findings to internal and external stakeholders. The role will also collaborate with external research partners, represent the USOPC at national and international forums, and translate research insights into actionable strategies to enhance athlete health and performance.

Requirements

Clinical

1. Serve as primary point of contact and psychology provider for Team USA athletes and NGBs. Provide crisis intervention, psychological evaluation and assessment, and referral services. Facilitate case management for psychology referrals. Offer outreach and education resources on psychology as needed.
2. Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of providers to determine and deliver the appropriate services for Olympic and Paralympic athletes and teams.
3. Provide individual and group psychology services for Team USA athletes. Provide remote services to Team USA athletes and NGBs across the country and around the world as needed.
4. Always provide a high level of service and communication to all entities.
5. Develop and disseminate educational psychology materials for coaches and NGBs to help them meet the psychological needs of their athletes and teams.
6. Support the USOPC Psychological Services directory and referral process.
7. Support the development, implementation and training of athlete psychological services policies, procedures and processes for daily operations and Games environments.
8. Contribute to the development of an environment for USOPC team members and Olympic and Paralympic athletes that is healthy, safe, equitable, and culturally diverse.
9. Provide psychological services coverage for events, practices, training camps, and competitions at Olympic & Paralympic Training Centers, Training Sites, and around the country and world, including at Olympic and/or Paralympic Games.
10. Consult with key stakeholders to develop and implement individualized and targeted psychological services for each athlete/team. Work with Psychological Services Coordinator to provide services in response to requests from resident and camp programs and/or as identified in NGBs’ high-performance plans.
11. Adhere to HIPAA-compliant documentation and recordkeeping including recording and entering all athlete encounters and related data in the electronic medical records in a complete and timely manner.
12. Provide management of athlete psychological services in accordance with licensure, scope of practice, Code of Ethics, standards of care, and functions of individual professional licensure permitted by State law. Maintain continuous compliance with medical and legal requirements for the states of employment as well as any other states in which the psychological services provider supports the USOPC or National Governing Bodies at sporting events or other assigned activities.
13. Maintain compliance with IOC, USADA, SafeSport, and the Olympic & Paralympic Code to provide for maximum health and performance for each athlete.
14. Complete and oversee special projects as assigned. Lead and/or participate in working groups as assigned.

Research

1. Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Psychological Services and the Director of Sports medicine research, lead the delivery, collection, and evaluation of research participant health and performance data per regulatory guidelines.
2. Execute research tasks including but not limited to, study conceptualization and design, participant recruitment and enrollment, data curation, data management, data analysis, and dissemination of research findings.
3. Contribute to the development and management of data collection and analytic procedures, including but not limited to, developing study-specific data collection processes and databases, training relevant research personnel on data collection methods, and conducting statistical analyses of collected data.
4. Improve research methods including study design, data collection and storage, statistical analysis, health care planning, and injury and illness surveillance systems.
5. Synthesize research findings into actionable insights and strategies for the USOPC Sports Medicine team. Disseminate research findings to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., athletes, coaches, clinicians, NGBs, USOPC leadership) and broader medical and scientific communities (e.g., conference submissions, submission for publication in the scientific literature).
6. Collaborate with USOPC Sports Medicine, USOPC Sports Performance, NGBs and other external research partners by providing support for ongoing and future research studies. Assist with implementing appropriate research methods, data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation.  
7. Represent the USOPC at external national and international research, Sports Medicine, and Sport Performance meetings.
8. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

• Ph.D/Psy.D in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field (preferred) OR master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, with equivalent work experience
• Specialized clinical research training at the graduate and post-doctoral level
• State Licensure as a mental health provider in applicable states of work within 1 year of hire; additional state licensures, as appropriate
• AASP Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC) Certification
• Current CPR certification
• Certification in Anti-Doping training completed within 30 days of start date
• Certification in human subjects research ethics, compliance, and safety (CITI)
• 5+ years of experience providing psychology services to elite and diverse athlete populations
• Electronic Medical Record experience
• 3-5 years of experience conducting clinical and/or human subjects’ research with medical and/or athlete populations
• Research experience in epidemiology, injury and illness prevention, sport performance and/or sport psychology
• Prior experience with relevant data collection methods and procedures, submission of regulatory documents (e.g., IRB/Human Ethics), data management, and data analysis
• Experience with a variety of data analysis and statistical software preferred
• Experience with preparation of regulatory documents (e.g., IRB/Human Ethics Submissions) preferred  
• Knowledge of psychotherapy and clinical/counseling psychology
• Knowledge of mental performance/sport psychology
• Knowledge of exercise science, kinesiology, and motor skill development
• Commitment to diversity and demonstrated competency in multicultural counseling skills
• Knowledge of and adherence to professional, legal, ethical, and professional standards endorsed by licensing professional organization
• Ability to conceptualize, diagnose problems, and implement appropriate treatment solutions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and computer programs
• Strong interpersonal skills, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population including, but not limited to, athletes (both Olympic and Paralympic), coaches, administrative staff, physicians, volunteers, and other medical personnel
• Continuously comply with local, state, and federal health and safety standards, rules, and regulations
• Ability to handle confidential information and communicate only to its intended audience(s)
• Skill in (or willingness to learn) R, SAS, python, Tableau, SPSS, or similar data management software
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to deal with non-routine matters and special projects with minimum and/or specific instructions  
• Preferred knowledge in the areas of: sport performance, sport psychology, psychosocial aspects of injury, clinical mental health disorders in athletes

Here's some more information you need to know:

• Hiring pay range $115,000 - $130,000 per year
• This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
• Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
