POSITION DESCRIPTION – PART-TIME COUNSELLOR  -  WIDE BAY WOMEN’S HEALTH CENTRE INC.

Position Title:                        Women’s Counsellor  (Specialist Mental Health Worker)

Terms:                                   Permanent P/T 60 hours fortnight 

Reports to:                            The Manager

Award Classification:             Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHADS)

Salary Level:                           Level 5, Pay Point 1

Requirements

Selection Criteria

• Possession of tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Behavioural or Social Sciences, or a related discipline, with current registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body.
• Demonstrated experience providing trauma-informed counselling and case management to women who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, gender-based violence, with a strong commitment to supporting recover, safety and wellbeing.
• Demonstrated understanding of feminist principles and the ability to apply a feminist, strengths-based, and person-centred approach to service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake client assessment, provide accurate information, advocacy, and referrals and coordinate appropriate support services to meet individual client needs.
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build trusting, trauma-informed and culturally safe relationships with women from diverse backgrounds and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
• Well-developed organisational and administrative skills, including the ability to maintain accurate client records, collect data, manage competing priorities, and meet reporting requirements.
• Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card and current unrestricted Driver Licence.
