We are a growing healthcare system based in San Antonio, Texas that offers its employees a great work environment and opportunities for advancement.
University Health System is currently seeking a Staff Psychologist for the Juvenile Detention Healthcare Center to:
- Assist the Director of Psychological Services in the design and implementation of mental health and crisis intervention programs, along with consultation with medical, detention, and probation staff.
- Provide supervision, evaluation, and training of mental health counselors and social workers at the Bexar County Juvenile Probation Detention Center.
- Complete psychological evaluations for Bexar County Juvenile courts and contractual agreements for pre-employment screenings.
Requirement:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctorate in Psychology or related field.
- One year of supervised postdoctoral experience in clinical psychology, forensic psychology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of psychological testing and evaluation techniques. Skill in communicating effectively with hostile, abusive, or irrational individuals. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, county employees, private attorneys, outside organizations, and the general public.
- Experience working in a juvenile detention environment and in conducting forensic psychological evaluations is preferred.
- Two years' experience in supervising mental health staff preferred.
- Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
