The AISG School Psychologist is a reflective practitioner and systemic leader who fosters a compassionate, inclusive learning community. This role provides high-quality psychological services across the whole school, ensuring that every learner is supported cognitively, socially, and emotionally. The School Psychologist collaborates with students, families, and staff to promote wellbeing, access to rigorous learning, and positive outcomes. Through data-informed practices, systemic interventions, and culturally responsive services, the School Psychologist advances equitable pathways for all learners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment & Data-Informed Services
Provide pre-referral consultation through established Student Support Team processes, supporting teams in clarifying concerns, and determining the appropriateness of formal psychological assessment.
Conduct comprehensive, culturally responsive psychological assessments (cognitive, academic, social-emotional).
Obtain informed caregiver consent and conduct caregiver interviews as part of ethical assessment and intervention processes.
Interpret assessment results and communicate findings with students, caregivers, and staff in clear, strengths-based language.
Use assessment data to support placement decisions in learning support programs and to guide instruction/intervention.
Consultation & Collaboration
Partner with teachers, specialists, leaders, caregivers, and agencies to co-design supports for academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Participate and make recommendations in problem-solving teams (e.g., Learning Support Team, MTSS) to develop tiered interventions.
Serve as a trusted advisor on systemic practices that promote psychological wellbeing and neurodiversity-affirming environments.
Direct Interventions
Provide individual and small-group support for social-emotional skills, executive functioning, self-regulation, and resilience.
Facilitate evidence-based prevention and early-intervention programs.
Support crisis response, risk assessment, and safety planning following best practice and legal guidelines.
Systems Leadership
Lead development and refinement of schoolwide frameworks for positive behavior, social-emotional learning (SEL), trauma-informed practices, and inclusive instruction.
Analyze trends in behavioral and academic data to inform continuous improvement.
Advocate for policies and practices that reflect research-based principles and AISG values.
Professional Development
Provide training and coaching for faculty/staff on topics including Universal Design for Learning, SEL, culturally responsive practices, and behavior support.
Stay current with research in school psychology, international education, and culturally sustaining pedagogy.
Legal, Ethical & Cultural Compliance
Adhere to ethical standards of the profession and school policies.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and documentation practices.
Uphold AISG’s commitment to inclusion, respect for diversity, and culturally responsive services.
Caregiver Partnership
Communicate proactively and respectfully with caregivers, building trust and shared understanding.
Support caregivers in understanding assessment results, intervention plans, and strategies to support learners at home.
Requirements
REQUIRED
Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology (e.g., Ed.S., MA/MS in School Psychology, PhD in School Psychology), or an equivalent internationally recognized qualification with formal training in school-based psychoeducational assessment.
Active LSSP credential/license (state/province recognized) or equivalent international qualification, authorizing independent practice in school psychology.
Knowledge and experience conducting comprehensive psychoeducational assessments (social, emotional, academic, intellectual and information processing) and delivering direct/indirect services in school settings.
Knowledge and experience in providing consultation with teachers, administrators and students’ caregivers on the intellectual, academic, social and emotional development of the students
Strong understanding of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), SEL frameworks, and culturally responsive practice.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
PREFERRED
Experience in international schools or diverse cultural settings.
Experience producing psychological reports used for school-based accommodations and external testing bodies (e.g., standardized assessments).
Training in trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, or systemic consultation models.
Familiarity with international assessment tools and learning frameworks.
