Job Description:
The Department of Psychology at Binghamton University (SUNY) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in psychology (up to three-year contract) with possible renewal. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative teacher with a commitment to high-quality, rigorous undergraduate education (with a potential for graduate teaching as well). The area of specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in industrial-organizational (I/O) psychology, health psychology or behavioral medicine, and developmental psychology. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester, with opportunities for summer and inter-session teaching. Lecturers are fully integrated into departmental life, with opportunities for voting, participating in curriculum development, and program assessment. They are also welcome to maintain active research programs and mentor undergraduate research assistants.
The Psychology Department consists of 48 faculty members in three doctoral programs (Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical Science, and Cognitive and Brain Sciences), as well as eight teaching faculty offering additional expertise in developmental, school, forensic, and social psychology. We recognize that excellence is often informed by varied life experiences. We therefore welcome applicants with non-traditional career trajectories or significant professional experience outside of academia. The Department prizes collegiality at all ranks, is family-friendly, and there is a pre-school on campus. Additional information about the Department is available at https://www.binghamton.edu/psychology/.
