The ABA Line Therapist/RBT provides 1:1 or small group instruction utilizing the principals of Applied Behavior Analysis based upon an individualized intervention plan designed by the Behavior Analyst for children diagnosed with autism or other related developmental disabilities. The Registered Behavior Technician is a person who has completed the course and passed the test as an RBT through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and maintains this credential annually with supervision and re-certification to meet the requirements of the national Board. The RBT-in-Training is a person hired without the certification, who must obtain the RBT certification within 6 months of hire date. If the ABA Line Therapist does not complete and pass the RBT certification within 6 months, the person cannot continue in the position.
Essential Duties:
- Collects accurate data for programs including continuous measurement, discontinuous measurement, and permanent product measures.
- Assists with functional assessment procedures and individual assessment procedures, as needed.
- Conducts accurate preference assessments without assistance.
- Identifies all essential components of a written skill acquisition program, prepares it correctly and implements it accordingly.
- Applies ABA principles and procedures based on industry standard including but not limited to DTT, NET, and chaining using task analysis.
- Implements ABA-based teaching procedures based on industry standard such as shaping, prompt fading, error-correction, and errorless teaching.
- Generalizes and maintains client skills by including use of varied materials and settings as well as conducting maintenance checks, as recommended by the supervising BCBA.
- Assist with parent trainings, as required.
- Identifies all essential components of a written BIP and implements accordingly, including crisis or emergency procedures.
- Identifies main functions of behavior and implements behavior reduction strategies like extinction, differential reinforcement, and modifying antecedent conditions, with support of supervising BCBA.
- Professionally communicates with supervisors, coworkers, families, and clients.
- Accepts supervisor feedback by implementing suggestions immediately after feedback is received in order to improve performance, and then maintains performance standard.
- Completes and maintains all necessary training. Attends all weekly meetings as designated by the Behavior Analyst.
- Engages respectfully with coworkers, clients and families, including maintaining client dignity and confidentiality.
- Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- No experience required, but experience working with individuals with a developmental disability, such as autism spectrum disorders, is preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- ABA Line Therapists are encouraged to complete the coursework and certification process to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within the first six (6) months of employment. Employees will receive dedicated support from the clinical team and Lead RBT staff during work hours to help them complete the training and prepare for testing, based on their individual skills and understanding.
- Once the RBT is earned, the employee will change to the RBT position with its new job description and new wage changes.
